I had the pleasure of seeing Big Jim play on numerous occasions in various pubs around the Sussex area. The guy was amazing.

He's one of those people I've heard of many times, and I must have heard loads of his session performances on famous old hit records, but I can't say I know what his playing was actually like.

Sad news, nevertheless.  RIP.

He used to play the pub circuit around Chichester, Pulborough etc in Sussex as part of various duos - watching him up close and personal was fantastic - everything from blue to rock to country - shredding, two-handed tapping, you name it, he could do it. Then we'd get to the 'break' and he'd play some amazing jazz stuff.

I had no idea who he was the first time I saw him - he just looked like a fat grandad with a pony tail and specs perched on the end of his nose - and then he hit the first note from 'Still Got the Blues' and it was "Wow!!!"
