I've taken some time off for the London Film Festival, but my first film isn't actually until tomorrow.
So today I decided to tidy up my ever-growing collection of guitar parts..... :|
Eight hours later, all I've succeeded in doing is moving things from one box to another and it all looks even more untidy than it was before I started (in fact there now seems to be less space than there was this morning).
And my back hurts.
Sorry, really boring I know. Just needed to vent. :(

yeah, i recently resolved to sort out my house and make it presentable. all i've succeeded in doing is leaving it that you virtually require mountaineering equipment to move around!
-
Was going to reply but... :? :o :(

Just send me all these useless parts, you'll get a lot more neat and tidy available space

I didn't do the same stupid thing, I thought I was actually attempting to improve things a bit.....
What am I supposed to do, just bin it?

Hmmmm.... :|
You got me, I guess.

 I know the feeling

gets worse before it gets better.. i have found this effect with most tidying/spring cleaning efforts. especially DVD's

I keep meaning to try to sort out my DVDs and get rid of the ones I've replaced with Blu-ray, or just don't want anymore..... but I know it'll be a disaster.
And then there are the CDs where I've got old editions, then remasters, then boxed sets....
Maybe I should get the guitar stuff sorted out first.....

yeah it's kind of a vicious circle like that... i don't tidy because i know how much work it's going to be. which means i go without tidying for longer. which means more work when i finally do get round to tidying. repeat ad infinitum.

The logical solution must be..... never tidy!
-
that's what i always say. yet people look at me like i'm crazy!
-
Even if you look at the more basic aspects of cleaning and tidying - like dusting or hoovering - they take just as long if you do them every week as they do if you leave it to accumulate for a few weeks. Or months.
That's not even taking into account the cumulative total time wasted through frequent tidying.
And at least if you've left it for a while you notice the difference!
-
yeah

i think it's easier to clean from total chaos which is why i say it get worse before it gets better. when you're trying to tidy an untidy pile of stuff, you're picking things out slow, one at a time.
Dump it on the floor and clear the space you're trying to tidy, then as you go thru the debris, bin what you don't need and put back what you do.
the dvd's were a nightmare.. 300 odd, most of which weren't in boxes.. so, boxes go ina pile on the floor, spread em out, then it's much easier to see the right box when you pic a dvd out the other pile.
or alternatively, end your life of materialistic obsession and burn it all. I would say give it away, but i'd still have to tidy it all if i did that.

I've got, probably, nearly 10 times that many  ..... so sorting them out is a bit of a problem.
I never leave discs out of boxes though, at least I haven't got that to deal with.

I have a similar amount I suspect. I once decided to try and put them in some sort of order. I got to 'B' before I abandoned that stupid idea. They currently languish in, on top of and around 5 bookcases. I have a rough idea where most things are... I still have to reshuffle every now and then to create more space.

My Daughter (8 years old) is always leaving discs out of boxes or putting a disc in the wrong case. Sometimes the 'wrong case' scenario can involve up to 10 discs in the wrong cases, kind of like a treasure hunt. It drives me nuts.

Exactly like me! Everything's totally disorganised (although I do half-heartedly try to lump Criterions together, or films by particular directors, if there's space...), but I do know roughly where everything is.

my sister does that (and she doesn't have the excuse that she's 8, either  ). Very annoying
