Looks great, but they are rather heavy to carry. :)
-
I actually really liked their new tune.
-
Ronnie looks rougher than Keef! I like the fact the gig tickets only cost £12 :)
-
is that strat a hardtail?
-
It looks like it is. I'd like a really good hard tail strat.
-
Keith and Ronnie do have rather nice guitars at their disposal. But at those prices, I don't think I shall be going to see them being played. I shall wait for martin Scorcese's film.
-
I still like that Gibson ES-355 (if that's what it is...?) and (especially) Ronnie's hardtail Strat....
-
I'm with you Phil, they're two great looking guitars and I bet they sound as good too.

Back on topic then. I LOVE that Strat.

I sent a linky or two to the moderator ;)
I've love the Gibbo - it looks well played and the gloss black/gold seems knackered. Gorgeous :)

I wondered what had happened!
I did a bit of research on the 355, for some reason I'd assumed it was something new-ish, but it's a real vintage model from '59:

Very cool...

i've always thought the Stones have a few absolute classic songs, and then a vast swathe of uninteresting blandness around them. just my personal opinion :) i do love a handful of their songs, but find i can't wade through any of their albums.
but they've always had that cool swagger, and some fabulous guitars! (we'll ignore Jagger's often very dodgy dress sense)

That's the one part of them I've always loved, they definitely have that swagger I don't think any other band really has.

Couple more tasty guitars for Philly on this one - Les Paul Junior and a Firebird

..but the highlight for me is Lisa Fischer .. what a ****ing voice (2.30) .. even made Keith smile (3.05)

I don't really want to get into another heated debate(!) on the merits of the Stones, but my feelings are pretty similar although I don't think they were ever exactly bland.
I do like a lot of the stuff they recorded between the late '60s and mid-'70s - which I always thought of as the Mick Taylor period, although in fact Beggars Banquet was pre-Taylor.
Funnily enough, though, I've always felt the same about Led Zeppelin - I love most of their songs, but every album has at least a couple which I find hard work. Maybe with really talented, creative bands it shouldn't be too easy to like everything they do....

I shall have to look at the clip when I get home later. :D

That is a great clip. Lisa Fischer, what a voice! A true 'goosebump' moment.
-
Great clip indeed. Now there's a Stones song I really do like, in fact I think it's complete and utter genius. Gives me chills.
Great vocals from Lisa Fischer, too, as you say.
Shame there weren't some better shots of that LP Jr. I'll have to go and play with my own to cheer me up. So to speak.
-
That Lisa Fischer is awesome in every single possible way :o :D

Completely agree .... the other Stones song I used to really like was the live version of Midnight Rambler ...

.....it's way too long and sloppy in parts .. but love the guitar interchanges and tempo changes.
-
Gimme Shelter is a great song, just a tiny bit too slow on that recent version though - just drags a bit.
This is more like it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ8MvnEVCqM
