In a jaw-dropping display of melodic rock guitar, Japanese guitarist Hiroaki Tagawa demonstrates his upside down guitar technique. Tagawa is the guitarist on Minoru Nihara's latest solo album. (Nihara being the vocalist for LOUDNESS, in case you didn't know that)

Saw part of a Los Lonely Boys concert at weekend.
Was their video concert from Austin Texas.
The bass player brother was playing the guitar (whilst guitar was still on his brother) and his bass at same time with hammer-ons. Also he put the bass behind him and played, and on floor like a lap steel. Then he took it off and played notes by throwing it up in front of himself and catching the neck. Kinda hard to explain but bloody Jaw Dropping!!!!
Check it out if ya find it.

What is the point of him learning like that? It doesnt look very comfortable.

it doesnt look COMFORTABLE but it looks damn COOL!!!!

I remember an interview with Jeff Healey in the late 80s where he said that he had no outside influences of how to hold the guitar it just seemed natural.
He then sated that it allowed him to use his thumb for somthing other than simply holding the neck
He also said that it allowed him to make very long stretches.
I know it's politically incorrect, but it was so funny to watch Jeff Healys band mates scattering for cover when he decided that he wanted to run about during a solo.

whose this 'jeff healey' then?

whose this 'jeff healey' then?
Canadian blues rock guitarist (who has switched mostly to jazz).
He has done the soundtrack to atleast two films, one a Stephen Segall (or Seagull as we call him in work) and a Patrick Swazie (Mr Suede Teeth) film called Roadhouse.
He does have a website somewhere (I will do a search later when it's quieter as I am supposed to be working until 3:00).
His playing makes use of the wide stretches he can manage, and is a lot less bland than Robert Cray and not as aggressive as Stervie Ray (if that description makes any sense).

I think thats enough for the links ;)
I'm a network analyst for a national newspaper based in Canary Wharf (that narrows it down to two possibles).
It's a 3 week cycle
This week I'm on what are laughingly called evenings (Mon to Fri 16:30 -> 03:00), incase any of our network packs up while transmitting pages to the press sites around the UK, Greece, Spain and Ireland (the southern bit). These can be boring but have to be covered :(
Next week it's Mon to Fri 08:00 -> 16:30, plus Saturday & Sunday (yeuch 7 days straight).
Then I'm off the following 7 days (I try to get back home to Belfast but sometimes I can't afford it) so of any of you need an extra employee one week in three PM me as I hate sitting around London with nothing to do for 7 days at a stretch.
It's a bit cr@p at times (homesick) but it looks good on the CV (resume) for job applications as it's the largest privately owned network in Europe, and I get playing with some cool kit.
Hence 1 weeks of too many posts, 1 week of some posts and one week of silence, and boy does a 21 day cycle play havoc with my bio-rhythms, should such things actually exist.
Kilby... (desperately seeking money and sympathy, or atleast an attractive independantly wealthy female redhead with lax morals)
