God that's a hard one. I prefer the Aftermath clip, but as I listen to it more, it all loses meaning, haha. Now I can't tell the difference. I hate when this happens. It's like the BKP clips; it all loses meaning after listening to too many.
Great clip though PDT_001

Cheers man :)
I know, differences are minimal really for the metal style I'm playing. I noticed the Aftermath having more focus in the midrange and less low-mid (the warm/muddy sound) compared to the Blackhawk. Great for single note runs and lower tunings to make everything cut through in a mix. The Aftermath did however suffer with chords and fullness compared to the Blackhawk.
Ideally I'd love a pickup halfway in between the two :p but I'd be happy using either pickup.

As far as i can tell the blackhawk seems to be a bit more "juicy"... Maybe more fitting for lead runs and chords whereas the aftermath is very defined on the low end and riff sound great and have excellent clarity...
I think that pickup in between would sound great...
A dry and defined low end but full and juicy mids and highs.

Which pickup do you think would suit the early Trivium style? The Ascendency period?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, so forgive the same old question. But I need the answer to the same question and BKP aren't cheap or everywhere to try! Stuck between the Aftermath and the new Blackhawks? Going into I previous EMG slots on an ESP M-II. Mostly play new and old thrash, but want a little more versatility than the EMG's offer at the more subtle end of the music I play. Sounds do start to get meaningless after a while. Willing to mix the neck p/u out for something different too? HELP?

I liked the AM's better.

What i would really like to see is a painkiller vs black hawk shoot out. To my ears they seem to me the most emg-like pickups bare knuckle has to offer.
