Im thinking of customising my 4x12 cab. At the moment it has a kickproof metal grill, and 4 celestion rocket 50's and black vinyl covering.
Im thinking of trying to get the grill a nice shiny chrome colour (its black at the moment), but im open to further suggestions. Preferably something i can do myself with limited tools and knowledge without spending a lot of money!

You got autocad? The world is your laser cutting oyster.
Purple snakeskin vinyl?

My first suggestion would be to stick some Vintage 30's in it. ;)

+1! My speaker of choice.

Don't talk about the speakers here, just the cab.
You could go the oppositie of bling: relice it, make the frontpanel rusty, get some vinyl of, etc.

Seems to work for every other piece of gear!

Well, he specifically mentioned the type of speakers in the cab in the original post, so I assumed they were up for discussion also.
I've always wanted to find somone to make me a new badge for mine saying "Muttley" in the Marshall font. :)

I've gone all retro at the moment. The cab that's being made for me at the moment is blonde and oxblood. Classy.

Sorry if you got me wrong, I didn't write properly, but I meant: I am just talking about the cab, not the speakers. Of course a cab benefits from a speaker upgrade.

mmmm interesting ideas. No option of autocad im afraid. Iguess what im thinking of is just aesthetics for the time being, speakers can come a bit later (or a whole new cab for that matter).
How would I go about making the kick grill rusty, and what do you mean by removing the vinyl, surely that would just leave the cr@ppy material on show?!

I personally would go for something rusty....
You could perhaps make that very interresting. Depending on how strong the lines on the grill are and if they are currently coated you could try to remove coat only on certain places which you then make rusty.
That way you would not go for a worn look persé, but could make a logo out of rust. How awesome would that be?

Get some pain of and use acid and hydrogen peroxide. Or remove paint and leave it outside for a week.
