I've wondered for ages, Ibanez keep updating the design of the EDGE trem, but Vai and Satch still seem to prefer to use the original version. Does Ibanez still make this model or do those guys get them just cos of their relationship with the company?

FAIK the original edges vere made by gotoh, so its best IMO to check that out

^yeah.
I assume the edge is still in production, because i ordered a lo-pro edge recently, and i managed to get one from my local shop (didn't fit, but that's another story!). It took a while to arrive, but arrive it did. I assume you can get an edge in the same way- just go to an ibanez dealer, and see if they can get you one.
Bear in mind, it's a different size from an OFR.

and do NOT let them order a II, III or other powdered metal shite.
demand a gotoh edge. if they say they cant get one, take your business elswhere.

seconded.
when my lo-pro didn't fit, the shop was going to order me a lo-trs or a jackson generic trem. I told them where to stick it (well, i didn't, i politely asked if they could get me an OFR).
