Hello, I ordered a Aftermath for my PRS CU24's bridge...well I didn't do enough research and recently found out the half inch legs won't fit - only the short 1/4" legs do. I haven't received the pickups yet (ordered a month ago through another retailer...bad idea) and am hoping I can get that changed before they ship, but in the event I'm too late, does anyone know a solution to this (the legs being too long)? I will not do any routing or drilling to the guitar itself :shock:

Can't you wait till they arrive, send them back and order an Aftermath with short legs? I would contact BKP about this.

I did this once and sent them back to BKP and have them swapped :)

How much extra did it end up costing you to do that?
Also, I've heard that the long legs can fit in a PRS Standard; can they also fit in a Custom 24? If so then I've got nothing to worry about anyways. I just don't want to do any sort of routing :(

PRS short legs only.
Better off just changing them with BKP.

I would guess that long legs might fit a PRS with a stoptail bridge, but not a Cu24 with a trem bridge - because the bridge is lower so the pickup sits lower in the body.
But if I remember right, PRS' routing for pickup feet is pretty shallow so short legs are a better bet.

my long legged riff raff fitted properly in a stoptail mccarty, but the height screws didn't (that would require routing or cutting the screws)
I used the stock PRS screws, but they're a bit too short, so the pickup had to be set pretty high (which made it sound a little bassy, but amazing anyway)
if the Cu24 cavity is as deep as the mccarty's, maybe you won't have a problem if you cut off the BKP screws a bit

Do you live relatively close to BKP so that shipping costs and wait time aren't so bad?

Unfortuanately I live in Massachusetts so the cost of replacement would be just too much. Worst case scenario I'm throwing the PUP in my Ibanez JS1200...it ironically has a very deep routing in the bridge for an Ibanez.
I read on another forum I can actually just clip the screws a bit and that will allow enough room for the PUP to fit. Can anyone confirm or deny that? That might be the best solution I've got

I'd say just try it, first with the PRS screws - you already know they'll fit the routing, and maybe the pickup will sit low enough too.
And you could try measuring the depth of the routing to see what's the maximum length of screw which will fit, then compare that with the overall depth of the pickup. Bear in mind the pickup rings add another few mm of "usable depth".

Long legs didn't fit the bridge position of my '09(?) McCarty, so PRS may have changed the dimensions of the cavities over the years. The neck cavity was fine as it was deeper than the bridge...

So my solution ended up being...buying a calibrated set with the appropriate leg lengths. I'm going to end up putting the original Aftermath I ordered into my Ibanez. The only thing I'm bummed about is that the Aftermath with the long legs has a Battleworn cover on it and I really wanted to put that in my PRS (yes, metal PRS :harp: ). I've been looking up how to take off/put on covers, but the Battleworn cover seems different than say a Les Paul nickel cover. Should it be the same sort of thing - IE, soldering off the cover, wax bathing the PUP and re-installing/soldering on the cover?

Replacing the battleworn cover should be same process as replacing any other metal cover, but I believe the black coating on those pickups is quite soft, so you might want to go easy heating it and cleaning off excess wax etc, or it may end up looking more battleworn than you wanted....

Lol, that would be bad... Anyone know if you can just buy the covers separate from the PUPs? It'd be much simpler to just put a cover on than remove a cover and put it on another PUP. I've found mixed results so far from Googling whether or not BKP does this

They don't list humbucker covers in the BKP shop, but I'm sure if you contacted them by phone or email they could supply one.
BKP will remove and/or fit covers for existing pickups, but of course that would mean sending it back to the UK.

I figured that'd be the way to go haha...and yeah, I'm not feeling waiting another month and a half just to have a pickup cover installed
