Hi all
I've got a PRS with mules in, which I really like. More recently I've found I prefer the sound of unpotted p/us and I very rarely use massively high gain stuff anyway. Is it possible to "unpot" a BKP pickup? I know it is possible to remove some wax from them, but will this have the same effect?
Cheers

Sit it on a radiator with some kitchen roll under it - some wax may bleed out.
It may not be possible to do it 100% but it may be enough to stop it being heavily potted
If you had a wax pot you could redip it and once the whole pickup is up to temperature try to wipe off as much as possible while still molten - once again it won't be complete , but some potting is ok.

be careful not to overdo it and warp the plastic bobbins.
as feline points out, it will be hard to remove all the wax from deep within the coils - capillary action and the stickiness of the wax will tend to make it stay there.
i'd be tempted to leave it myself
