Yeah the idea was to be completely unbiased!
Not gonna defend the black hawk needlessly but I think I need to play with the pickup height to my ears the black hawk sounds clearer but the emg sounds beefier and more rounded. I really like the black hawk though its an improvement on the dimebucker I had before.
The cleans in partocular didnt sound great which suggests its too close to the strings.
Like I say in the decription try them out your self and dont take it too seriously!

yeah didnt mean that you had to post a clip of the bkp sounding better than the EMG lol- just giving my opinion on the sounds,etc-i was interested because i am curious about the Blackhawk, but i think that if i want active pups for one of my gtrs i will just stick with active pups for that 'sound'. cheers

No course not but I feel a sense of duty to get it to sound as good as it can !
Ive lowered it as much as I can any way but I cant see how theyre gonna sound the same any way.

Just like the Marshall thing, if you want a Marshall sound get a Marshall!
If you want an active pickup-type sound, well.... get active pickups! I did like the EMG's better in this clip as well.

Really does sound better, I liked the EMG in the first vid more as well. However I'd recommend you to lower the volume as your camera doesn't seem to take it very well, I also had the feeling that that was an issue with the first vid, the EMG clips didn't overpower the mic as the BH clips did.
However sounds gritty and shows that the "low output" of the BH is just a measure on paper. Is that a Ceramic or an Alnico bridge? And what woods does the guitar consist of?
Cheers

Its an alder body with maple neck and rosewood fretboard.

I have an EMG81 in my Jackson COW Signature, and it sux!
All my passive pups sounds far more open and alive,
so in this case - BH cannot go wrong for me....
