Have just bought this magnificent guitar and love it, but the Alnico neck P/U is muddy/wooly. The bridge is a DiMz Super Distortion, and I have to say I really love the way it sounds in the Epi. I play both clean and distorted (rock, skatepunk & metal) and am looking for something to compliment the DM SD.
When cranked up I play stuff by anything from Van Halen, Suicidal Tendencies, Led Zep, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Megadeth, so classic and modern sounds ideally.
Have considered the Abraxas, but not sure about it when paired with the SD, others that look interesting are the Aftermath, Cold Sweat and Miracle Man.
This is for the Neck P/U remember, and dont want it to get swamped by the one currently in the Bridge.
Cheers

I'm not as much of a BKP veteran as the rest of the guys that will definitely steer you in the right direction here.
But I can attest to the fact that a Cold Sweat sounds absolutely *killer* in an Epiphone Les Paul. I play a range of classic rock, 80's metal, and blues, and the Cold Sweat can tick any of those boxes in the Bridge of my Epi Black Beauty. I do tend to switch to my P90 for the blues, but for anything rock or metal the cold sweat absolutely destroys it.

thanks for this, I did like the look of it and the tone spread.

CS-neck or (more vintage, but still good for leadtones) Emerald-neck.

CS sounds good to me as well.

cs neck sounds like a natural match for the SD
(lot of "natural" cs fits today )

Thanks Guys
Looks like I will be ordering a CS shortly. Will get a cream finish on it as well to match the DiMz, so the guitar looks less like a Jimmy Page wanna be :-)

Good choice!

The Miracle Man neck might be too dark. The Cold Sweat neck is fine but quite low output. I feel that the VHII neck may balance better from an output perspective with the SD.
