Hi picking people, here in Argentina is a PG Blues set on sale and y was wondering:
Can I put them ON phase just by flipping the magnet on one?
what about the reverse winding?
hope you understand my "English".

Yes, you can.
If the pickup has a 4 conductor wire you would not even need to reverse the magnet. Simply put the red wire to ground and the black wire to the hot connection (depending on the guitar it's either the input of the volume control or the pickup selector switch).
what about the reverse winding?
I would not worry about that for practical purposes.

PG Blues doesn't come in 4 conductor option.
Probably better off asking Tim at BKP about the magnet flip.

I did not know that but you are right, there is no option to choose the conductors on the PG Blues. Therefore it would be indeed best to ask Tim about the magnet flip.

If you have these in a Les paul or any guitar with 2 volumes , as soon as you turn one of the two volumes down from 10 a little the out of phase effect disappears

Very true. Even though I like simple controls, with out-of-phase wiring two volumes is pretty much essential so you can get the right balance between the pickups.

Of course, that is true as well. 70s and 80s Hamer guitars had out of phase pickups and two volume controls as well, even if they settled on having a master tone control.

My first proper guitar was/is a 1980 Hamer Special, that's why I've always liked of out of phase wiring. :D
I tried loads of different pickups in that guitar (before I started buying loads of guitars instead....), which taught me the out-of-phase effect works less well when the pickup outputs don't match.
When people go on about the variety of tones you can get in the middle position of a two-pickup guitar with two volume controls, I've always thought it's a bit over-rated.... but it does come into its own when they're out of phase. :)

If you are looking for a very distinct sound in the middle position of the toggle switch, the out of phase sound is a sure way to get it.

Further research seem to idicate that there's no need to mess with windings, swapping magnet will do.
I guess the two pickups are winded in a same way and that has nothing to do with phase relationship
between them.
I'm not sure yet anyway, what still confuses me is knowing that, for example in a strat, if you missconect one pickup so it ends up out of phase with the oders, you can fix that by soldering each lead on to where the oder is conected.
