I own a Fender American Special Telecaster with a maple fretboard.
I am intending to purchase some Bare Knuckle pickups to replace the factory ones but I do not know which ones to get??
Any ideas? I want a vintage tone.... punchy!
Any recommendations....

Welcome here!
The BG52-set is stellar. Huge punchy vintage tones. The neckpickups has strattiness to it. Play with the toneknob for different soundshades.

Hi and welcome!
I agree with Telerocker, I think you can't go wrong with the early blackguards, I mean flat 50's or 52's, the former (my current set) being fatter, maybe a bit more compressed but still "vintagy".
Think the flat 50's as a very versatile set that can be angry if you need it to, but still very touch sensitive.
Here's a thread with a link to a few songs of mine, entirely done with those pickups

But don't overlook Country Boys for traditional Tele tone. I honestly don't know how they compare to the ones suggested above other than they are possibly a bit more polite but my Country Boy equipped Tele has become my main gigging guitar die to the fantastic tones that are available.

Just what telerocker said.

Since it's a topic about tele's.. I have the Fender CS 2012 tele pro with it's original twisted tele pickups. I like the bridge pickup 'cause is quite meaty, but the neck pup is to weak volume wise.
I'm searching for a neck pickup that has a lot of grit and presence.

I am not sure which BKP would be an equivalent but I have a Linhof with a fralin custom p92 in the neck and it is my absolute favorite tele-neck-tone ever so do take a look at the BKP p90 pups too!

Thanks for the reply. But I need the pickup to be in the standard tele neck singlecoil format, because I don't wanna modifiy the cavities on my guitar.
