Hey,
Ive just registered and am keen to get some feedback from you vets
I've decided to customize one of my guitars, its an Ibanez SA160QM (Mahogany Body) and i would like to
replace the pickups and strip the paint.....
My question is what pickups would people recommend (I've been looking at the Black Dog HSS set and the Emerald Set) for a kind of Post-Hardcore sound, 'At the Drive in', 'La Dispute', 'fall of troy'.... if it helps i play through a Genz Benz Diablo 100
The reason im looking for BKP's is that i know how much care they take in making their picks ups, the sound is awesome and to be honest they look sick
Any opinions would be very much appreciated

The Vets will be on there way shortly but I can agree with you that BKP's do look pretty sick and probably the best handmade pickups on earth. I've been looking for the right set of BKP's for awhile too and I am starting to think that most of them are capable of hardcore and metal tones.. I normally use a Duncan JB whereas some people use EMG's but both are completely capable of metal. I think it comes down to this. It's not as much as the pickups as it is your gear. You can get a set of Mules and thrash out Pantera if you use a Mesa Boogie or whatever. I'm sure the Nailbomb, Miracle Man and others can too. I've learned to try to compare your tone and gear and look for a pickup that will complement your setup EQ wise. You know, let's say your rig has a scooped sound and your guitars are a little one the bright side, maybe looking at the pickups EQ specs and try to balance out or complement your rig. But that's just my 2 cents.. Let the pros figure it out. Good luck bro.

I certainly would look at something beefy in the bridge like the Holy Diver. For the single coils it depends whether they should have vintage(hot) or a more modern vibe. In the first case: Irish Tours are a good starting point, Trilogy Suites for a contemporay singlecoil-tone.
