I recently scored an all-mahogany LTD Viper fitted with P90s, planning to use it as a backup guitar for my Gibson 60s Tribute Les Paul. Well, the damn thing played great, but the stacked P90s in it sounded awful. I decided to finally try out some Bare Knuckle P90s, since Philly Q raves about them so much, and Nolly suggested the Nantucket neck and Supermassive bridge, so I bought them and finally installed and tested them out this weekend.
They sound absolutely incredible, the Supermassive has a prominent midrange, but it doesn't sound honky. It's still slightly nasally, but in a really pleasant way. It has a lot of weight behind the notes, and sounds great at any gain level I use. The Nantucket has that classic and beautiful P90 neck tone, but without losing note definition. It's incredibly big and warm, but also has a slight chime to it. The middle position sounds incredible too. Tim recommended that it'd be great for funk, but it's in general a very usable sharp attack, with some body and weight behind it. Overall, the note definition and clarity makes my Gibby sound soft around the edges now. I'll have to get her some Bare Knuckles too! Maybe some Blue Notes?

Nice you like your BKP's.
The Bluenotes will sound softer and cleaner then your current set. They sound (to me) very musical though.

Good job. I've had a recent interest in P90s. I've never had any experience with them. A few of my favourite artist seem to get great tone from them. Need to buy more guitars first though lol.

For my Les Paul, I love the way she sings with a clean tone, so accentuating that would be no problem. I'm mostly interested in how the upper harmonic content sounds and how... fluid they might sound, I guess? I really just wanna see what else the range has to offer, considering these ones sound so good.

I would favour Nantuckets for raunchy rock and bluesrock, Bluenotes for anything from clean, to jazz, funk, blues and pop. As every BKP they should handle gain well, so with a good amp I imagine they can rock too.

What is your volume / tone set up and what wiring diagram did you follow. I have a mahogany custom strat that currently has 2 humbuckers and was interested in installing the same pickup combo as you have. I'm excited to hear that you are pleased. Sounds like it may be my combo as well.
Thanks

I've gotta be honest here, I rave about guitars with P-90s, but just to clear up any misunderstanding I only actually own one Bare Knuckle P-90 pickup.
I would love to try the newer BKP-90s, especially the Nantucket and Blue Note sets, but there's really not much wrong with the Gibson P-90s (P-90s in general just sound great!) and I'm a bit reluctant to mess with my guitars....
Still and all, very glad you're pleased with your purchase! :D
