Title: Possible to swap EMG 707's for Bareknuckles?
Post by: Progfather on February 14, 2013, 07:36:00 PM
Hey guys! I'm actually new to this forum after hearing a lot of good things about Bareknuckle pickups.

I wanted to ask a question regarding switching from active to passive routing.

I have a Jackson SLATXMG3-7 in Quicksilver on its way (Should be arriving tomorrow!). I bought the guitar and am sort of taking a gamble on it since I have never played it, and this is my first 7, but I love the way Jacksons feel. Been playing my Dinky for 6 years. The only thing I feel I might not be a fan of is the EMG 707's, but I sort of had the intention to swap them out for some Bareknuckles.

Is it possible to get the pickups in there without having a huge gap between the body and the pickup? Maybe the guys at Bareknuckle take custom orders for larger pickups to fit in EMG routes?

I believe there is some work in progress although not ready yet to produce a BKP that will directly swap for a EMG707
So nothing yet , but maybe later in the year.

You can get pickup rings that cover the gaps.

You may also want to look into the emg 81-7 its far nicer than the 707 and duncan also do 7 string passive pickups that are active sized.

I'm only recommending the above because BKP currently dont offer anything. However if you really want to go BKP you can buy EMG 35 bass pickup housings and mount these along with the passives for a neat look
