I saw him recently on some footage of Les Paul when he was doing the residency at the Iridium (I think) club in NYC before he died. Such an amazing player.

I saw (and heard) him for the first time when he was supporting Bill Wyman a few years ago. Bill had Martin Taylor and Albert Lee playing in his band. Came home, looked at my guitar and thought why bother ?

I've read loads of interviews with him in guitar magazines over the last 20-odd years..... but I've still never heard the guy's playing!

That's brilliant!
I like this guy too. Less roots, more jazz, but still amazing.

Also going to the Emmanuel gig. An acoustic devotee freinds of mine twisted my arm to go all the way to South London, but having seen the footage I reckon that the trip will be worthwhile.

It was one of the best gigs I've ever been to, Everything was perfectly paced, technically astounding and at times genuinely moving.

Well it was superb-everything I'd hoped it would be. two amazing players who clearly love what they are doing and also enjoy playing together.

Wish I'd been there. There aren't too many players like those guys.

I bet it was a great evening!
Imagine being able to play like that! It's got to be 5 hours a day practise minimum for years :-)

Not too late then!  Let's get practising!

I seem to recall Martin Taylor saying in interviews that he was lucky, playing guitar did come very easily and naturally to him - but I'm sure there were many hours of hard work too.  I suppose good progress would inspire you to keep putting in the effort.

Practising what you can't do yet & getting out of your comfort zone seems to work. It's not as much fun at first though

I could imagine having that kind technique but I couldn't imagine putting it to use so well.
