Title: NAD & NGD -- L'il Dawg & Fender content
Post by: Plenum n Heather on March 02, 2013, 02:28:17 PM
Figured I would roll these both into 1 thread, as they arrived at about the same time:

Fender Classic series '72 Thinline reissue.

Awesome - I've always loved the look of the '72!

That amp looks cool too - what's it sound like?

You're slowly getting a bit more traditionalist, Ben!

I remember when I got my Robert Cray Strat you said you might get something like that when you turned 80!  :P

It sounds like a Champ, but it's a head so I can mix n match cabs. :)

Ha!

Well, the gear has to follow the musical style. And what we're doing now demands a very different type of sound than the Splawn/ESP/JEM days. :)

Should've said, I love the look of the '72 Thinline too, always have.

I've got one (...or the component parts thereof  ) myself.

Come to think of it, I love the look of all Thinline Teles.

Thanks!

Okay, after some experimenting...

Champ + Tele = Twang City. Beano Boost doesn't do much. Going to try the BB Preamp as I am not thrilled w this combination.

Champ + LP = A M A Z I N G!! Beautiful break up at 1 o'clock. Kick in the Beano for instant classic rock tones.

nice :D that li'l dawg stuff is meant to be pretty good, i think, and pretty well-priced. Just being in the USA it's not really an option for over here as most of the savings would be eroded by postage and VAT/customs :(

Ha; never fear, GwEm, there are 2 superstrats within striking distance of that photo. :)

How do the Wide Range humbuckers sound? I know they are supposed to be constructed differently than the original 70s ones which had CuNiFe pole pieces.

They are nice, but I would like to replace them w vintage correct ones.

If you have an unusual amount of endurance, you can check out this clip recorded live on Friday w/additional overdubs yesterday.

Left guitar/drums/organ were tracked live to a Tascam DR1; Thinline into a Matchless Chieftan.

Right guitar is Thinline/Champster/V30.

Lead guitar is Agile (Riff Raff/Stormy Monday)/Champster/V30.
