I wanted a guitar for drop tunings. I wasn't looking to spend much because i rarely use drop tunings and came across this.

Its a lot better than i expected for the price.
The unfinished neck is a nice bonus as it saves me removing the finish. No sharp fret ends or high frets and the action was pretty low with no buzz straight out of the box.
The downside.... The pickups are complete utter garbage. Also it appears my plans for orange/black zebra pickups is out the window as nobody does them :shock:

Also Philly may be more interested in the neck on this. It's the WizardIII and is the same thickness at the first and last but rather than the really flat profile its a nice curved one.

Its the RG331M. It was already cheap and i got a 17% discount! Winning all around today.

I own an Ibanez RG350M (like this one, just with a Trem and completely yellow) and as you said it might not be the best guitar, but the Wizard III Neck is amazing.

I suspect the neck would still be way too skinny for my taste, but nice catch Tony. :D
The bridge looks interesting, I like the way Ibanez still have the confidence to use their own hardware rather than just using standard parts like most manufacturers.

That's a lovely looking guitar. Always liked RGs - I used to have a 750 a million years ago but the neck profile was a bit too, what I like to call "Helix Shatter-proof profile". If you understand that I think it dates and places you :) . Orange and black is way cool too.

It probably is too thin but its not so flat! The bridge is a rebranded Gibralter standard (even though only seem to make bridges for Ibanez now) which was one of the main reasons I went for the guitar other than the price as I have it on my RGA and it's a fantastic bridge that's really solid and easy to set up quickly.

So far I actually prefer the flatter wizardII but that's probably because I've been playing guitars with those necks for a few years now so I just have to readjust.

Well I guess everyones used to something else, for me the Wizard III is the perfect shredneck, just fits my hand naturally when sweeping and doing other fancy stuff like that :)

Is that flat as in the fretboard radius, or flat across the back of the neck? I hate flat-backed necks, a rounded shape is much better even if it is skinny (though fat would be infinitely preferable!)
I don't think any Ibanez necks would really suit me, except the Paul Gilbert Fireman!

You should use that and Swirly for cheesy 80s metal and use a different guitar for drop tuning :lol:

Right I've got a JB in the bridge (thanks Brow!).
This pickup is very hit and miss i really like the core tone but the ridiculous amount of compression and a certain fizziness in the high end is driving me mad slowly. I've just about got it dialled in optimally now. I'll keep playing it for a few weeks and see how i feel then.
