Title: Humbucker bridge spacing question for PG Blues pups
Post by: ArcherDay on March 08, 2013, 11:13:26 PM
Apologies in advance as I'm sure this has been asked many times, but I want to get it right... I made the following measurements at the bridge site of my guitar... Do I want 50 mm or 53 mm bridge-spaced PG blues humbucker? Guitar is an LP copy with a tune-o-matic type bridge and stop piece.

1: measure E-string to E-string on the bridge itself: 51.5 to 52.0 mm

2: measure center to center of E-screws on current bridge HB cover: 52.0 to 52.5 mm

3: measure center to center of E-screws on the bridge itself: 52.0 to 52.5 mm

Based on above, do I order 50 or 53 mm ?

Thanks alot!

les paul types are usually 50mm, but going on your measurements i'd say you need a 53mm. its not really gonna affect the sound though, its more a cosmetic issue.
gibson brought out  the 498t pickup which has 52mm spacing as the bridge spacing is wider than at the neck. so if you are buying a set, you could get  a 50mm for the neck and a 53mm for the bridge.

I would measure the E to E spacing of the strings above the screw coil of the pickups to be 100% certain. Whatever that is go with the closest.

Edit: I see you have a bridge pickup E-E measurement. Did you measure this with the pickup in the guitar? And does it line up with the strings? If so i would go with 53mm
