.....not

Jesus. The middle of the body looks like some sort of avocado. I wouldn't pay £89 for it let alone £899.

Gibson. No.

by the way i saw the pic, thought "jesus!", literally the first thing in my head, and scrolled down to find i'd echoed your sentiment exactly.

everyone else that posts, be honest, it;s the first thing that came into your head wasnt it.

They did indeed do a zoot suit SG. To be honest I've not bothered researching to see if these were produced at the same time. If they weren't one can only assume that either the SG version was a big seller or there are lots of yes men at Gibson who will do whatever they are told to.

My first thought was a cross section of a giant gobstopper...thats not a thought I have very often...

That's a good spot. Maybe that's where they got the idea from.

Pretty ugly indeed, but I would buy it for 89£ and then give it a little makeover  :D

I like it, in fact the only thing I don't like is that its a Les Paul.

I think it looks ok. Not for me but someone will love it.

Was gonna say this. I'd gladly fork over that money and just simply repaint it. Sadly, that's not the case.

I can see that work for a psychedelic band for sure, especially when it is a little worn. Throw some delay and a nasty 70s fuzz on there and bäm!

Apparently it comes stock with a joint, a peacesign-neckless and pink circular sunglasses.

One time I s**t in my hands and clapped... and the result was far more pleasing.

When these first appeared I absolutely hated them, but for some strange reason they've grown on me (slightly).  The colour schemes seem to vary a lot, and some of them actually look quite cool.

This one certainly isn't pretty, but it has something of the Eric Clapton "Fool" SG about it.

Actually, believe it or not, I think the worst features here are the covered bridge pickup and chrome knobs, they look totally out of place.  I'd have a zebra pickup and black speed knobs.

i thought the Zoot SGs looked fantastic, and they must have sold well enough, because it's pretty much impossible to find one now.  from the ones i've seen, i don't think it looks as good on the Les Paul, but i certainly don't find it offensive.  no one's being forced to buy them.

it would be ironic if you tried one and found you loved the playability and sound :)

They have the look of some sort of composite wood, plywood or some such.

I think it's terribly ugly.  I think that the Zoot SG is better, but only in the way that gonorrhoea is a marginally better STD than syphilis.

It's made from "several layers of individually color-died birch hardwood"..... so yeah, plywood.

I suspect that means it'll be heavy and not very resonant, due to all the laminates and glue, so I probably wouldn't like it anyway, regardless of the looks.

Edit:  the back looks pretty funky!
