So I scored a Les Paul Tribute series for free form a local store contest and I am wanting some hotter pickups. I have a stock Marshall 2203 and I want to get some pickups to hit the front end harder. Im looking for more of the 80's metal/rock vibe without being flubby in the low endand Id love to be able to pull of pinch harmonics easly but to being to overly ferious on the treble side. Hope this kinda clears up some of my ideas for pickups!!
Thanks guys,
Justin

Holy Diver will always get the vote when 80's rock is mentioned, but even more so here, as the LP provides natural bottom end that the HD lacks.
I like the Black Dog in my Les Paul too, pushes the amp hard in the mids department.

Holy Diver will do.

.... been down too long in the midnight sea ...
Holydiver.
Cheers Stephan

les paul + holy diver + overdrive pedal + marshall = rock tone heaven

I like the Rebel Yell in a Les Paul for this sort of thing. Bass end is very controlled, always sounds excellent in the mix, really easy to record.
We've all assumed you have full sized humbuckers in there, let us know if its one of the ones with P90s or mini-HBs! ;)

Sorry, I just find it hilarious that every time the HD gets mentioned everyone either has to type out RJD singing it or add other lyrics. I love it!

Yeah it has full size buckers!

that rig looks great, especially the LP! goldtop 8)
all i will say is that the rebel yell in my LP through a marshall 2204 (50w version of your amp of course) sounds just the same as the official steve stevens sound clips on this very forum. so those clips will give you an accurate impression if rebel yells are for you i would say.

In reply to TheyCallMeVolume: ... in the midnight hour she cried more more more ...
To the OP: Rebel Yells are great, too. The bridge will have considerably more output than a typical PAF, has the typical 80s vibe but is definitely brighter than the Holydiver.
Cheers Stephan

A big +1 to that with my RY's through my 2203!

Have you pulled the cover off the back of that LP yet? I would take a look inside.
