Hi All,
I'm looking to change the pickups in my les paul studio. Not much of a tech-head but know what sound I like. Very much a fan of round-sounding (piano like) gut-punching steel kind of chimes, love nice low-mid ranges. Dislike heavy metal kind of highs or anything in the higher frequencies. If I could have a tone mid-way between Anna Calvi and Don Caballero (World Class Listening Problem LP) - I would be in heaven. The Manhattans sound roundest out of the samples on the site but says that they're suited most to solid bodies............also love the warmth and roundness of clean jazz tones but would really like to hear them driven to see what they can do.....
Anyone using these?

Suited to hollow-bodies I meant. :(

Somewhere between ths:
Don Caballero Renewed: And And And He Lowered The Twin Down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWxE3k6nwEU#ws)
And this:
Rider to the Sea - Anna Calvi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9NciVKLhm8#)
:D :D :D :D :D

No experience with Manhattans. I would send a mail to the BKP-team to know how they would do in a LP Studio.

When I've read the description of the tone you like, I immediately thought of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1so4i4n1wKI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1so4i4n1wKI)
It's the purest/sexiest P90 tone I've ever heard! But the guitar wood and construction has to be taken in account here.
So I guess the Manhattan would take you in this domain, but let us know what the BKP team thinks about it.

Thanks Julio,
I've got them ordered..... Hope I get the tone I'm after. If there's not many other people using them (Manhattans)
I suppose that can be a good thing too!

Hiya, :)
Manhattans are probably my favourite B.K.P. for being both really luscious sounding - and yet having a very 'open' and detailed sound , that seems characteristic of the Alnico III magnet on that wind and style of pickup. I cannot comment on them in a solid body guitar, but in an Archtop, they have made a cheapish guitar sound very warm and responsive.
A couple of old clips from some time back :

Sorry I did not respond to your post earlier, but I do not drop by as often as I used to do ; but having now seen it, wanted you to know that I feel that you made a great choice . :)
P.S.
The original thread, in case you want verification of the signal path used e.t.c
