I have been watching the Mastodon dvd for like the umptinth time in a few days and have some serious gas for a tobacco sunburst flying v like 1970-80s, style. If you know mastodon, its the guitarist Brent ( big ginger beard who has one ).
I couldnt find a pic of one but this is the closet thing i could find.

Anyone want to sell one really cheap? please......
-
I thought the headstock was sharper... guess not :P Still a very nice guitar.
-
maybe your right, i thought so too, but couldnt find any decent pics.
-
get an Epi and respray it/pimp it? Or a Gordon Smith?
-
Good idea, ill have a look at Gordon Smiths.
Thank you!

what about Tokai too

I havn't tried a Tokai V but Tokai Explorers are excellent though you will need a pickup upgrade, as thats the only fault I found with tokais.
Errm at the risk of deviation, on that has anybody found that the tokai single coil pickups are pretty OK but their humbuckers are awful ?
Rob...

now now rob.... wouldnt wanna start turning into the new sambo would you?

I've tried a Japanese Tokai SG and for stuck 'buckers they were just fine. They weren't amazing, and BKPs'll deffinitely make them seem "lesser" in comparisson, but compared to the Gibson equivilent there's not much to call between them.

Hi Lepersmeesa check out www.flying-v.ch a very full and informative site.
I think its only older vees which have the shorter headstock, mine has a more pointed one. Just buy a Gibson faded model and whip out the pups and replace them with BKPs mine is at http://photos.wanadoo.co.uk/album/2324601 its fitted with a set of Crawlers
Cheers

Thanks for info Keith, much appreciated. I have updated the picture with the one he has. I think ill have to shop around, as my budget is tichy.

ive got the japanese tokai sg and i found the bridge humbucker alright, the neck pup is a bit feeble sounding and very muffled. i put an abraxas in the bridge position and it's miles better.i just had the neck upgradad to four conductor wire as i cudn't afford another pup.
but tokai are a good company in my experience ,they do some good quality stuff. i'd still give it 'the treatment' if you get one tho

ESP Edwards make great guitars, japanese made, and if you are in the UK you have the currency convertion rate in your side.
Check em' out. http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/index.html

they look like some sweet guitars... you had any experience with em?
-
I've got their take on the Rhandy Rhoads, its a great guitar.
I also know of quite a few people who have the LP's and they all love them, quality wish i'd compare them with most guitars in the £1000 range, so the deluxe series ESP LTDs, high end Schecters ect.
They are priced at around 75-80% from what they are listed at on the site, shipping comes to about £70, because they are coming from outside the EU there is a good chance that you will have to pay a customs fee, this is at 23% which is a real bummer, but sometimes you get away with it, sometimes you don't.
Anyhow here's some pictures of my Edwards:

It cost just under £750 which isn't bad really considering its japanese made, EMG's, neck thru, original floyd, ebony board, alder wings ect.

Got to agree with monkeywalker here, and say Tokai's are ace, even the Korean ones. Both my MIJ Love Rocks have BKP's in, and both sound fantastic.
-
Thanks Andy RV, now I want one of those. I couldn't find it on the ESP site, could you send a link.

The old Kerry King V's looked the business, but I don't like the Randy Rhoads V at all.
-

-
Go here:
http://www.espguitars.co.jp/edwards/index.html
Then on the left near the top click neck thru series, then select E-RV-138.
You will have to find a dealer in Japan who is willing to ship to you because really you are only meant to be able to get them in Japan.
-
andy have you ever played one of them japanese esp guitars?
-
Check the first page of the thread i posted pics of mine.
