Great sounding amp. Didn't know the Mule could sound like that - awesome.

He mentions it about a minute before the end of the clip (it was worth waiting!).  The neck pickup, he says, is a "hum-cancelling Lollar single-coil" (maybe an El Rayo?  :? ).

Wonder why he wouldn't use his sig pickups with the sig amp...

I'm liking that Mule but also the neck pickup sounds awesome actually. I hardly use my neck PUs and when then it's uually parallel or split. That hum cancelling single thing would be pretty cool.

I guess it's just his go to guitar right now, but he is using more guitars live, also some with his sig set in it.

I gotta get me some Mules after all, hard to believe I had pretty much all the vintage and vintage hot BKPs but still no Mules!!!!

Steve just posted on HRI to clarify, he said it wrong in the video:

"Hey Guys,
My mistake, the neck pickup is a Fralin P92, not Lollar. The bridge pickup is a Bareknuckles Rebel Yell. Thanks to Mark & Dave for doing the video. I tried to keep it very very basic. Straight up, no eq or compression etc. The cab is a Mojo 2X12 mini slant....this guy.

It's actually loaded with Weber speakers. Here's the specs. They are rated at 100w each which is really nice in a 2X12. I wanted Celestion creambacks, but they were not available at the time i got the cabinet.
Specs are
Ceramic Silver Bell British Series 12 inch Speaker
* Cone Style - Paper
* Dope - Pre-Rola Add $ 10.00
* Impedance - 8 Ohms
* Power - 100 watts"

He got that just about as wrong as he could get it, then!  :P  :lol:

What's HRI ?

When I listened to the demo it left me wondering why Steve would need RYs when he can get that sound out of a Mule. It's not as though it was a slip of the tongue as he states specifically that it is NOT an RY and explains why he uses the Mule in that particular guitar. Wouldn't you think that he would know which pick up it was as soon as he started playing ? Seems strange.

It interested me that, for all that very expensive gear, he uses a Boss Graphic as a clean boost.

I used to do that, still do sometimes.

Great clip

Makes much more sense that it turned out to be the RY. I know the Mule can get raunchy, but that raunchy?

I'm quite glad it turned out to be the RY in the clip, I'd have been hoping for some slightly more "classic" sounds from the Mule.

It sounds great.
However, I guess we all must admit that in Steve's hands probably a Roland Micro Cube would sound great.

I wouldn't argue with that.

well, with that sort of saturation, I wouldn't be surprised if that was almost any other good passive humbucker
