Hi, I'm from Spain, my english is poor, I have a Gibson LP axcess and JCM800, I'm going crazy trying to listen to clips and samples pickups but without testing, I am inclined to bkp in principle, but... I are no buy until I am sure, you can help me? I like play hard rock, melodic... above all the songs of the great Satriani
-
I think in... emerald maybe, but I'm not sure, maybe too treble?
-
Depends on how bright the natural voice of your guitar is and how many mids you're looking for.
Abraxas would a be good starting point: vintagehot PAF-character with some extra mids and output. Does Satriani well. For a more contemporary tone you could inspect the Holy Diver and perhaps the alnico Nailbomb.
-
Satriani pretty much = Abraxas in my opinion.
-
Even the Black Dog and Holy Diver would rock in that axe. OOOOOh.......the Rebel Yell too. :)
-
I consideraty much abraxas, but, alnico IV maybe is less hot? abraxas i like it, its difficult, alnico IV only bkp use, but has more output than mo'joe and paf joe of satriani, maybe its the respuest, equilibrated, output, sweet... for above everything lead, and expresion, satriani has an expresion i like it, paisaje sonoro, in english i think... soundscape, paint in canvas melodic, te lp axcess sure is better than ibanez js XD, next level

AIV-magnets have a beautiful balanced tonespectrum. I have Mules and they're brilliant. You could see the Abraxas as a hotrodded Mule with more beef in the mids, but still a nice and chimey topend.

the closest models to the mo joe and paf joe are the bridge black dog and the neck cold sweat, respectively
his guitars are quite different, though
I remember Tim recommended the nailbomb for some satriani fans
-
I will consider what, but the nailbomb... for trash is great, but... I think that is not what I'm looking
thanks for all

What about Fred?

Holydiver?
I know it's shameless, but I still have a used set on sale...

This is a true situation where I’d recommend contacting BKP folks themselves for suggestions But I’ll throw in my 0.02 dollaaas.
But anyway, to me Satrianis tone is not really thick; it’s expressive and focused on the mids. I’m not sure about his current gear, but he really got a lot of his distortion tone from a modified Boss DS-1 into a clean amp. A lot of his tone is in his hands, he’s got a great touch.
You have a whole different guitar than the Ibanezes he uses. A lot of different humbuckers from BKP could serve you well, and you got a lot of different suggestions as a result :D If your guitar sounds balanced and your amp is flexible, there are many to choose from that could work really well, just with a different flavor. But for rock, hard rock and Satriani, I would stick to the vintage hot section. You need touch sensitivity. I’m not sure about the Black Dog in an LP for a Satriani tone; it’s thick although not dark at least in my LP, but I think you would be happier with a pickup with a brighter top.
Emerald could work really well; tight, bright but not too bright, very versatile.
VHII is another contender; it would probably sound a bit drier, but very expressive and touch sensitive.
