Title: BKP equivalent to PRS HFS&Vintage Bass
Post by: blackstrat on April 22, 2013, 08:28:59 AM
Hi folks. I recently bought a PRS Custom 24 with HFS & Vintage pickup.
I like the HFS ,modern,  tight bottom, and good bite in the high midrange. It's perfect for my musical style (punk, hard rock, to drop D metal). I'm looking for something with similar character, but a bit clearer in the low end.
As for the neck pickup, the VB sounds all right, but I'm looking for something warmer and fluid.

That sounds like a Miracle Man/Cold Sweat-combo. A VHII is a good option for the neck too.

There were some similar threads. This one refers to your question.

I use a PRS Custom 24 that had those pickups in and I thought they were alright too but my Bare Knuckles are better. I use a Holydiver bridge and Emerald neck following Tim's recommendation and they're absolutely perfect. I have a Miracle Man bridge in another guitar and I've also used a Cold Sweat neck before too so I can also comment on those. The Miracle Man is similar to the Holydiver but is a bit more aggressive sounding and a bit tighter in the bass (not that the Holydiver lacks in that department at all). The Cold Sweat neck is fantastic but not quite as smooth and creamy as the Emerald and not quite as versatile. Great for shredding.
