Hi people, Im looking for a speaker change for my Laney VC30 210. My favourites at the mo are Celestion G10 Vintage, Celestion g10 Gold, Jensen C10R or the Eminence Ragin Cajun. I play mainly a Fender strat, style wise I play Indie, P-funk & rock. Any body compared these or have any faves?
Any opinions/personal experiences would be a great help!
Cheerzzzz :D

I used to have the Celestion G10 Vintage and really liked it, very sweet sound and lots of headroom, almost identical to a Vintage 30 12 inch speaker. I eventually replaced it with a G10 greenback which is more of a creamy 60s tone but NOT that great for cleans, it also breaks up earlier but I prefer it as I play blues, rock and want a more classic sound.
The G10 Vintage is a better all-rounder though and I think most people would prefer it over a greenback.

Cheers JJ, Im swaying towards the Celestion G10 Vintage from the demos Ive heard so far, but still researching.
Jensen C10R demo worth checking out .....nice smooth sound & with nice character too

yeah it depends on the amp, I find that greenbacks really suit vox amps which is the amp I use G10 greenback for, fenders sound great with the jensens though. The celestion gold seems like a good one as well but it's damn expensive and there aren't many really high quality clips of it on youtube, alnico can even be harsher than ceramic lol so many options.

i can't compare it to the others, but I had a G10 vintage for a while and liked it. thought it was quite versatile. make of that what you will ;)

nice demo of the Eminence Ragin Cajun !

Celestion G10 vintage are very tempting but don't have the bright presence of the Ragin Cagun....
-
i'm not too well up on 10" speakers, but the vc15 had a jensen in there and i didn't like it as much as the vc30 with celestions. Most laneys are british-voiced and might suit british-style speakers more. That might be total BS, though, so don't quote me on that, i've only tried the vc series in shops.

Cheers for your thoughts Dave, the Celestion Vintage is still in my top spot, Im currently thinking of maybe having them both in the cab.....I like them both, it might be a cool unique combination or a financial mistake ...lol.

If you are gonna be swapping speakers, I would hold off on the tube rolling til you have done so.

The Rivera shoot out is what prompted me to grab 2x Swamp Thang for my Rivera 4x12 cabinet (the other 2 drivers are Wizards).

no problem :) Bear in mind i'm fairly conservative when it comes to matching speakers with amps, I tend to like the popular combinations. You may be different
I've heard some people (on other forums) don't much like the 10" celestion vintage speaker, but several people here have liked it, so...
