Just tried to start a new thread in the 'Guitars...' section and it instantly came up with 'Awaiting Approval' status. When I click on it it says the thread is not on the board anymore. Does anyone know why? Thanks
-
I've seen a few on the board recently - not sure why. Glitch?
-
we have had a few genuine bits of spam lately too. perhaps BKP have installed some keyword checks for new threads?
regarding the NGD thread - those are always of interest :) would love to see what you got!

I will repost it, give me a minute. I am quite excited about this one!

It's done it again :x
It probably is some keyword that I am putting in, maybe the image codes.

because you've hacked into morgan crows account and are a spammer? if they block it then there must be a good reason

They let me start this thread...

that is a very cool guitar. what headstock shape does it have?

I am not too sure, I was annoyed at missing out on another guitar on ebay so on an impulse I kind of just put in an offer for this one and it was accepted. I have asked him to send me more pics tonight. I am kind of hoping for the reverse fender headstock because I have many pointy headstocks as it is.
-
Can't wait to see the actual guitar ... you know, once the Russian Bath House and Genuine Rolex Watch links get removed from your thread! ;)
-
Very cool, looks like they did a nice job on the scalloping and that's a very unusual pickup configuration. I like the choice of a vintage trem too.
A reverse Strat headstock, it that's what it is, would look great.

How dare the BKP forum people deny you of your NGD glory!

Just got this through...

brass nut eh? 8)
i would say you've done very well - the guitar is probably worth more parted out. hope its a great player and you love it though!
-
Wow, a quilt veneer on the headstock!
The placement of the Fender logo is rather bizarre, but what the hell.
-
Brass nut, veneered headstock, logo on the wrong place is indeed a little strange.
-
are we sure its veener? some of the shading on the side of the headstock looks like it lines up with the quilt. could be an illusion..?
edit:
yngwie likes a brass nut. probably rolls off the highs very slightly. they were all the rage in the 80s apparently, so i like this cool old skool touch :) i have some brass strat saddles from that period i'm similarly partial to.

I can't see the picture now I'm in work, but I'd be surprised if it's not a veneer, I've never seen a quilt maple neck. Flame yes, birdseye yes, quilt no!
I don't know why, maybe it would be prone to warping? I've often heard it said that a plain flatsawn or quartersawn neck is prefereable to one with lots of figuring.
-
2 reasons to avoid quilted necks.
1) its generally from a softer species than the usual maple used for necks.
2) the grain pattern of quilt can mean very few grain lines make it from one end of the neck to the other. it undulates massively following those pretty waves. If you imagine wood cells/grain alignment in the neck being like the surface of a body of water then straight maple would be a flat pond, flamed would be a rippling sea, quilted would be the perfect storm.

Nice analogy Wez! :D
-
Very nice looking guitar. Both familiar and a little different :)
I think the headstock is a veneer, the fretboard and neck appear to be birdseye maple
