Title: Warpig Alnico Destruction ;)
Post by: SilverEvolver on May 02, 2013, 12:06:24 PM
The other guitarist of my band wrote this (with an Alnico Warpig) and it literally forced me to buy a Warpig the same day hahaha.
What do you guys reckon? Warpig's the way forward?

Yup. ^_^

Gotta love the guy. Sang with him at a really low-profile in-store acoustic gig once, made my life, that did.

He's pretty much my idol.

Yes, it's a positively crushing metal tone.  It's so heavy and yet so musical.

I have been listening to a lot of demos here and I am aware that recording technique is a very separate thing from what a rig actually sounds like in a room.   I find that all my recordings end up sounding muffled or lacking high end brilliance and I wonder if part of it is simply how I hear tone vs how a mic hears tone.   I also find that recordings sound very 2D compared to how 3D things sound live, and that the sound of recording equipment and a reduced bit rate can make things sound much more similar than they really are in person.

Caveats aside, this recording sounds awesome.  I'm just curious what else is in the signal chain.  My guess would be either a boosted cranked high gain head of some flavour, or AXE FX or some high end digital modeling software.  (Or maybe a Torpedo Live)  If it was cheap gear, well, I'll be very surprised.
