Title: blackhawk set impressions- amazing
Post by: mongey on May 06, 2013, 02:24:17 AM
so I got my blackhawks for my custom 7 to replace a cpig set in my custom wenge/swamp ash 7 . I liked the cpig but just found too much bottom end on the low A string after a while. It was allot better if tuned up to B but at A it was too round no matter what I did.It didnt sound bad at all but there just wasnt the definition  in the lowest notes I was after . I tune to ADADGBE so  a B on the bottom is not real usefull so it was time for a bday present for myself and a PU swap

so got my blackhawks installed saturday and I'm blown away. I like all my BKP's but this is the most I've been impressed  straight off the bat with any pick up ever  .the neck sounds great clean , clear and articulate. nice for strumming and arpeggio parts with effects . and the bridge even pulls a good clean. high gain and boosted it still has ample low end but is tight and still defined . Highs are bright but not harsh and the mids seem perfect  . its basically worked perfect for what I felt wasnt working with the  Cpig . I felt if it kept the simliliar  mids as the Cpig but flipped the bass and treble responce around  I'd be happy and so far I feel thats what its done.

still havent done the acid test of rehearsal with the band but I think it is going to excel from what I've have heard so far .

Interresting results, congrats it works out!
I find your notion on keeping the mids and flipping treble and bass around very interresting.

Definetly looking forward on how it performs with the band. I recond you will have more precision and cut in that area.
