Title: Irish Tour Pickup Heights

Can anyone help me get the optimum height for my Irish Tour set.
If I wind them up I get a fuller tone but of course they have to much string pull. I have been faffing around for months with this can anyone shed light please?

What I do as a rule is adjust to the point of string pull, then back em down just to the point where it stops.
