Title: Got a gig today
Post by: Johnny Mac on May 26, 2013, 10:13:04 AM
I've got a gig today with the Ian Dury band I'm in called Dury Service. It's our first one and my first proper gig so I'm a bit nervous but looking forward to it a lot. We're only on stage for a short while and we're doing 6 songs. I'm going to use my Feline custom Lion and get me Koch out in public!
It's at a classic car show in Enfield called 'The Enfield Pageant Of Motoring' late afternoon time.  :D

Excellent!  Been practising your Wilko psychotic stares and stage moves? (I can't say Chaz Jankel stage moves, because I don't know what they're like...)

Hope it goes well.  :D

Well that went down well. We had them all dancing! :-)

We did
Sex & drugs & rock & roll
If I was with a woman
What a waste
Reasons to be cheerful
Wake up & make love with me
Hit me with your rhythm stick

Great stuff Johnny.  I guess you have a great bass player there.  I was a big fan of Ian Dury's stuff.  I used to have a Kilburn & the High Roads LP (along with Hatfield & the North - road sign bands).

A bit late here but I am glad it went well Johnny. Great songs and I am sure the crowd would love 'em.

I managed to get some video from a phone in the audience and do a couple of uploads to YouTube  :)

They had a collection at this stage for the Help For Heroes charity and got a lot of generous donations from the public. Which was a nice thing to do I thought.

Yes my mate from school Colin plays the bass. He is good. Funnily enough the playing fields we were on backs on to our old school :)

Shame the sound wasn't a bit better, but it gives a great idea of the crowd reaction.  Looks like you guys went down really well.  I'm sure you all had a great time.

It was only a cheap PA but better than nothing. Yes we all had a good time :-)

I like that, but I had a fable for Ian Dury back in those days, so I'm not objective.  :)

Brave to tackle the Blockhead's stuff with one guitar, no keys. no horns but it sounds good. I saw The Kilburns support Golden Earring early 70s - about the oddest pairing I ever saw.

Yes it was a bit rushed. We were rehearsing this 2 years ago but had to abandon it
As our singer got into a spot of bother and got 6 months. We only did 1 rehearsal a few days before this little gig.
We are looking for a keyboard & Sax player.
We are just going to keep playing live until we get some others to join
or it won't go anywhere.
I may have to get a Koch reduction to play little clubs!  I've been looking at the Studiotone XL. It's a 1x12 combo or head & small cab.  3 channel EL84 Class A, built in power soak, 20 or 40w just over a grand.
It would be handy.
Thanks looking everyone. I've just got to learn to relax for next time. I was very dry in the mouth!! :-)

I've liked the look of the Studiotone head for a long time, very cute little amp.

Sounds quite nice. Pretty loud too. I even liked the tone better then from the Koch Multitone I had.

Those studio tones are very popular. I've seen a lot gear demonstrators using them at guitar shows. I've just been looking at second hand 1x12 combos on eBay. Lots of old Boogies on there. I wonder how they would sound compared to a Studiotone XL

The Studiotone is for sure easier to dial in.  :)
