Title: mississippi queen in the bridge of my strat and i think i like it! (alot)
Post by: bandmaster188 on June 28, 2013, 08:15:33 PM
i've had my strat set up with a MQ in the neck, single coil middle and i've been trying a few different buckers in the bridge, which have all been, well a bit meh!
so last night i decided to change the scratch plate again and go MQ bridge and single coil middle and neck. i've not had chance to let it rip at a rehearsal yet, but i  think i'm liking this alot! I can't get over how much grunt the MQ has got.
now as its nearly birthday time again i was thinking of teaming up a pair of slow hands with the MQ. what do you folks think of this combo baring in mind that the MQ is actually a neck pup in the bridge position.
cheers!

What is the tonal difference of the MQ-neck in bridgeposition compared to a regular MQ? That I would check out before ordering the Slowhands. Maybe it's a great combo. I like the idea of a P90-bridge and two singlecoils in a strat. It's done by different brands and usually works fine.

I've not used a MQ bridge pup before so can't really make a comparison, but the neck model is Alnico IV and the bridge is V.

If you like the neck-P90 in bridgeposition then go for it. I would ask the guys at BKP if the Slowhands would match in this  setup. It's gonna be a beefy strat for sure.
