Just installed a RY set of reverse zebras in my mahogany body/maple neck Charvel and man she sounds better than ever. I have tried a Duncan custom 5 and a Suhr ssh+ in the bridge previously and never liked either in that guitar. The pups sound great coil tapped as well, more Tele than strat, but nice. The guitar now has the growl its been missing! Thanks Tim!

Congrats, glad you like them!

Any chance of a pic........i am a Charvel nut.

Hope this works!

Ooops. Don't know why I sent two pics. You get the idea though.

Love one of those. What model is it and roughly what kind of cash do they cost?
Thanks for that :P

Darren, its a Music Zoo Natural series. Its made by the Fender Custom shop (which employs all of the original Charvel builders) for the Music Zoo in New York as far as i know. They have several different models, mine is a mahogany body San Dimas. They also have Dinky body styles as well, different wood choices, natural and Carbonized versions. Mine is one big chunk of mahogany with a one piece maple neck 14-16" fingerboard radius, jumbo frets and original floyd rose. I paid about $1,800 for mine. Seen them used on ebay for less though.

Back to the RY's , the clarity and note definition of these pickups is so far superior to any i've played before even with higher gain settings! Still haven't played them much on clean settings yet but, that is not why i got them anyway. They sound great through my Blackstar HT20 combo with moderate gain. Still waiting for wife and kids to be out so I can hear them through my Splawn Quickrod and 4x12 cab at higher volumes

Yeah, those babys really are amazing as heck. Generally versatile too and with them being extremely sensitive to heights too they are even more so. Grand range on them.
Plus they loooooove mahahony =)
You are in for a treat when you can really pump em up, amazing at low volumes, but when you crank em they really unchain. Hope you can unleash em soon ;)

Yeah Kiichi the RY's really have a prominent mid range that the other pup's I have tried in that guitar lacked. The Suhr SSH+ and Custom 5 were just too bassy in that guitar, not a knock on those pup's, I had a SD custom 5 in a lighter Alder bodied HSS MIM Fender strat and it sounded great, though lacked the clarity of the RY's. It's funny how you think you know what note clarity sounds like and then you really hear it and its like "Oh wow!"

I hope to try these out one day. I think they would be brilliant in my SG

What a rad guitar! 8) I love the Rebel Yell too

Have a look at my posting under JCM900 in the amp section.

Richard, glad you found a good setting on that JCM 900. I think you are right. Most all tube amps have a sweet spot you just have to find it with your ears not your eyes! Sounds like those RY's were singing for you! I've always wanted a Firebird sunburst with a white pickguard, maybe someday!

Very hot guitar, and the RY set is one of my favorites for sure.
Have fun with that axe,
Stephan

Tim also recommended the Rebel Yell for my Les Paul Custom. After listening to a lot of clips......I think he may be onto something.
