Thanks!!

BBC4 does get a bit repetitive with those old music shows.... but they are well worth re-watching anyway. :D
-
Cant recall seeing any of this stuff Philly but i'll be watching anyway :D

"Southern Rock at the BBC" and the "Sweet Home Alabama" documentary were on a couple of months ago. I don't think I've seen the Skynyrd concert, but maybe I just missed it.
They also had another OGWT programme where Bob Harris went to the Capricorn Picnic in Georgia, with interviews and clips of various bands like Wet Willie and the Marshall Tucker Band. Maybe it's on iPlayer.

Yup, I remember seeing them programmes Philly describes. Longer ago than a coupla months though. I'd say 8 months to a year.
I'm not longhaired redneck myself, but even so I quite enjoyed them... :D

Southern rock is one of those secret pleasures I wouldn't admit to liking but do. 8)

Thought I might as well use an existing thread....
Anyone watching "History of the Eagles" tonight? I've never really been a fan particularly, but it is very interesting.
-
Is it the stuff that was shown a few weeks/months back, Philly?
I didn't know too much about them either (except girls when I was young liked them ), but I found it really interesting and even stayed up way too late watching it.

I hadn't seen the Eagles film before, Andy, but it's probably been on before, that's standard BBC4 practice. One of the more interesting aspects was that it featured people, like David Geffen and Don Felder, who weren't always talked about in the most complimentary terms. Not like the usual music documentaries where certain people are very notable by their absence!
It was followed by a short, mainly acoustic, live show from the early '70s then a compilation of California singer-songwriter types from the OGWT (which definitely has been on before).
I didn't know any girls who liked the Eagles! The first of their albums I remember being reviewed as a new release was The Long Run, by which time they were (as I recall) already seen as a bit old hat (and, with hindsight, they were on the verge of falling apart).
