Title: NPD
Post by: MrBump on August 22, 2013, 12:03:48 PM
Yep, Bump has spent money again...

My superb Tonerider American Overdrive has been getting a little noisy so I thought I'd have a look around for another TS clone.

Settled on the VisualSound Route 808.  It arrived an hour ago, and so far it sounds superb!  Lots of similar characteristics to the American Overdrive, really smooth.  Works brilliantly with the guitars volume knob, giving a clear, sparkling clean at about 3.  And the bass boost shifts the whole thing slightly - it's really good into the dirty side of my Renegade 65, making it much heavier than the American OD does.

Highly recommended TS clone.

does NPD stand for new pedal day? I don't like slippery language.

The pedal looks good though.

Best bang for buck TS clone out there IMO, the one i would buy if i had TS's to do over again.

Happy NPD!

Nice one!  :D

Although I'm woefully ignorant when it comes to pedals (much like amps), I like Visual Sound stuff.  I have the Route 66, which I think is effectively half Route 808 and half Compressor.

I like Visual Sound pedals- I have a couple (Jekyll & Hyde and H20). Gigged them hard and they do the job.

Yeah, it definitely has the mid hump.  But the bass boost switch brings in a slightly boomier, rounder sound to it.

One thing - not a bad thing, just a thing, I've had to rearrange where it goes on the board, I think because of it having a buffer maybe?  It's actually improved the overall sound quality on the board, which isn't something I expected.

Nice pedal man! Never heard of it before.

Great that you liked so much so far.

I had the same with a buffered Toadworks Dual Boost. Needs to be first in the chain.
