oi oi.
I have a gitter coming back to me next week. I noticed one of the rings was cracked and got a new one, and obviously I forgot or was being too cheap to get two rings. The newer one is going to be lighter in colour than the older neck ring. Anyone know any tricks to get age them artificially?
secondly. I have rewired the control plate (gibson) but I can't remember which controls normally have 2 nuts on the bottom. I think its the bridge volume at least. Any word on that would be good, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Tea helps, the stronger the more aged it looks. Obviously black tea with no milk or sugar.
-
Cheers, I'll have a go with that.

Yep, used tea before to age a switch tip to match an old guitar. Worked surprisingly well!

How long do you leave it? My Tele scratch plate has aged a bit but I'd like to help it along.
-
As long as it takes. I think the tip was in for about a week.

have you tried smoking 80 a day? I once saw this old les paul that my mate bought off a guy who is probably now dead, smoked 80 a day, the guitar stunk but it was really aged yellow and supposed to be bright white. Obviously it's not healthy but just a suggestion if you run out of ideas.
Ben.

And at £7(...?) a pack, by NOT smoking 80 a day you could save enough to buy a really nice vintage guitar that someone else has aged for you. In less than a year! :o
