Title: Emigrating
Post by: Johnny Mac on September 14, 2013, 07:51:50 AM
I'm moving to southern Spain. I'm just waiting to rent my flat out. It's with a letting agent and I'm getting some interest. Then I'll be loading a van up for the move down to Andalusia and a small village in the mountains. I've got a mate down there and I'm going with 2 others. Should be good  :D

Cool - what are you going to do (apart from letch at all the cute young Spanish ladies...) Is there a call for HGV work in rural Spain?

This sounds interesting - what's the motivation behind it? Hope it works out for you!

I've got a friend who has lived in Spain for over 15 years now. He says that most of the pretty young Spanish girls he knew turned into sour faced and ugly women at an alarmingly quick rate.  :D

Good luck!

I haven't been to Spain for a very, very long time but I always had the impression that after the age of about 40 all the women seem to suddenly go all leathery and bow-legged and start dressing all in black.

I'm also intrigued what you're going to be doing for a living down there JM!  The small village in the mountains sounds a lot more interesting than one of those "real English fish and chips" expat ghettos.

I've got a friend down there and we've seen seen a gap in the market for a luxury car service, Bentleys and limousines. So we are going into that business. There are lots of packages you can put together when you do a bit of creative thinking. The competition is kept under control with licensing and we're buying a business with a licence and a Lincoln car with customers and pre booked work.
The village I'm moving to is lovely.
Yes I'm going to pack my Koch!

That's pretty much what my friend said. He also said they mutter a lot and always look angry.

There's an easy fix for that - don't go out with any Spanish women on a long term basis and don't date anyone nearing 40  :D

Cool stuff Johnnie- I hope the business goes well. As for letting your flat-make sure you get a good letting agent and suitable insurance-including landlords legal expenses to include evicting bad tenants!

I've had 9 views on my flat. Hopefully someone should take it soon. Got some more this week too.
I've found somewhere to live there. 3 bed apartment, underground parking, 30' terrace, fully furnished and modern. Shared garden and pool. €600 a month. Talk about bargain!

Don't advertise the 3 bedroom part too much or you'll be having the next BKP meet up there :)

I'm going with two others so its full already.
The small town I'm going to has 53 restaurants. That should be good scoffing through them.

Got a tenant to move in. A nice couple in their 30's, both working full time.
One of the agents were sending me loads of people on benefits and none of them wanted it cos its small. Fussy sods!
So, I move in two weeks if it all goes to plan :-)

Hello How you all doing?

Its going well down here in Spain. Still warm and sunny. We've all been busy busy getting this new business set up. Everyday is a step closer.
I havent played a guitar properly since last July when i had some rehearsals and a gig, even though i've brought all my gear down here. I've not the time at the moment but that should change once I've got some routine. It seems strange looking a my Koch in a new environment
