Title: NCD
Post by: Telerocker on September 27, 2013, 11:33:12 AM
Yesterday I finally managed to get my hands on a The Valve 112-RFX closed back cab. They're hard to find at the moment and when yoy see one it has a different tolex or grill-colour. But, I found a matchting cab, with discount at Max Guitars in The Hague. Still 340 euro.
They also had a TC Electronic Spark Boost on offer (99 euro). so I grabbed that one too. It's a poor man's AC Booster.  :)

It's an Italian ''boutiquebrand''. The cab matches the amp. Most of 112 cabs don't have enough width to put the amp on top. The amp itself is dual channel with a class A (25 watts) and class AB (45) watts button. Tubes are EL34. On the back you have controls for presence and resonance to adjust the top- and lowend. Has an adjustable loop too for series/parallel. Clean is somewhere between a Twin Reverb and a Bassman. Drivechannel has a plexi-vibe with enough gain for me, but no loads of highgain.

Cheers guys!
I am happy with it for now. I was looking for a combo that has good cleans and drive and sounds good on low volumes, as a we do a lot of smaller parties and clubstuff. The band plays pretty much low volume on stage as most of the monitoring goes via in-ear. My Rockerverb just needs more master to sound really good, but then I'm blowing the band away. The extra cab is for the bigger venues (from 750 people and up). Especially in large tents you need the fundament of a closed cab.

Here's an impression of the leadchannel played by Francesco Congia:
