I'm looking for a fatter tone from my Comanche. When I dial in my amps for my hollowbodies with p90's, the Comanche sounds brittle and less loud.
What would bring me in the vicinity of the Nantuckets, or is there a single coil with p90 characteristics?

well this is straight from the trilogy suite page
A high output set of single coils with a muscular 'P90-esque' tone deep, resonant bass, wide mid range response and a totally modern voice.
not sure about the slow hands. but the sinners will probably be way too much.

Trilogies, but they do sound way more modern than the middy Slowhands, which have still that vintage stratvibe.

I don't want vintage strat vibe, so I've ordered the Trilogy set. More on that when they're in the guitar
thanks

hope you enjoy them! i'll be trying some out soon enough as well!

well, they're in. I definitely hear the P90 reference, and that's a good thing, I don't like strats much. But the Comanche plays so great, and the sustain is unbelievable, that I'm taking a chance with these pickups. Also, they work better with my fuzz pedal than all my other guitars.
I do have a lot of hum though, even clean, much more than with my Nantuckets and MQ's. I ordered a new pickguard, and it isnt shielded. The ground connections seem ok, could this abscence of the tin foil explain the strong hum?

i'm betting that absence of the shielding definitely plays a factor in your humming. do you have a noise suppressor pedal?

Probably. You can get the foil on ebay. I can't imagine it's hard to apply.
The only thing with it is that you have to make sure that the joins are good (overlapping). Use a continuity tester (a lot of multimeters have these, but the cheapest ones don't tend to) - it will beep when you have continuity. An alternative is a couple of coats of the conductive shielding paint on the back of the pickguard. You can also paint the inside of the guitar with this, or line it with foil (just be careful not to short out the guitar by the hot wires touching the shielding. Also, if you use the paint wear an appropriate organic solvent safe face mask

Havent shielded it because I cut my finger and wasnt able to play this week. Apart from the crazy hum, the high e string on the bridge pickup is much lower in output than the other strings, and dull.
How's that possible?
