Title: Gibson Chet Atkins SST
Post by: blue on October 03, 2013, 03:03:15 PM
Hello boys.

Came across one of these on my travels today.  very interesting guitar. It's a solid body acoustic :)  Played it through a little A.E.R. combo, and it sounded really good.  Anyone know anything about them?

They are very good guitars with convincing acoustic palette. When they were launched, you saw them in the hands of pro's.

I remember seeing it in a Rosetti Gibson catalogue years ago, and i think there were steel string and nylon string versions.  It was hanging on the wall between a Martin and a Takamine acoustic and it very much cought me eye.  Pretty sure I'll be going back for a second look :)  seems like an excellent solution for recording acoustic sounds, as well as the obvious feedback busting live application

Yes, there are steel- and nylonversions. I think they were developed mainly to play loud (without any feedback) on stage. Besides that, the necks are known for their comfortable playability.
