Hi all. First post here. I've been suggested BKPs and am wondering which in your experience would be best for my guitar. I have a Korean Epiphone Dot. It's a very nice guitar but I would like a little more bite out of it.
Specifically, I am after that bite that Clapton gets from his famous red 335 on "From the Cradle" and the "Nothing but the Blues" tour that is all over YouTube. I know that's the Crossroads guitar, too, but the amp setup must just give more bite by the 1990s. His 335 is/was a 1964 335, with, I believe Patent No. pickups rather than PAFs. Thus they would have Alnico Vs, right?
I've emailed Tim at BKP who initially recommended Stormy Mondays. I explained the above and he suggests Riff Raffs for that extra bite if I'm after the EC Patent No. tone.
I just wondered, before I "buy and try" whether anyone had any views or experiences that might persuade me away from Riff Raffs, or any other suggestions that might get me a 1964 335, on the cheap!
Very grateful for any help.

What Tim said was what I was thinking as i read your post. Stormy Mondays for Clapton's Beano tone, Riff Raffs for the biting '64 335 tone you're talking about. to go fully authentic, get them unpotted.

Papa Tim knows best

Follow Tim. For your next 335 ( :)) you might consider Mules.

+1 to what telerocker said. Mules absolutely rock in a 335!
I reckon you could cover all that Clapton era with a set.

I'll be interested in what you do and how iut turns out. I'd certainly echo what the others have said and go with Tim's advice if it were me. I have a 339 and thoughts are going around in my addled old head about replacing the stock pickups( which are not bad at all).
