Went browsing for guitars recently after lusting after many new guitars recently. I tried out lots stuff id been lusting after and came to the conclusion that im definitely a strat/super strat kinda guy which ive always known but after playing several different models from this experience and past ones i also know I have a liking for explorer type guitars too and always have thinking about it.
I played the newish Gibson Explorer Golden axe which is the signature guitar of Bill Kelliher from Mastodon and it was loaded with lace nitro hemi pikcups. The neck and middle positions werent any thing special to my ears but the bridge pickup was massive and beefy and i really really liked it the low end was beautiful and it had a nice 'organic' vibe too. The only pickup in the bkp range I could imagine comparing to it would be the warpig but I havent played it and I wondered if any one had experience of playing both pickups?
I'm asking as im going to buy some sort of explorer guitar and put bkp's in it or just go for the gibson gold axe and probably change the neck pickup as it wasnt quite my thing.
Any advice would be appreciated.

A friend of mine has Lace Nitro Hemis in his Greco Flying V and is always raving about them. He plays in grindcore and powerviolence bands here.
I know quite a few people in the American grindcore scene who have Lace pickups in their guitars, mainly the 'Drop & Gain' pickups, and are Lace endorsers, from bands like Repulsion, Phobia, and Cretin. They all seem to be pretty happy with them.
I have an Epi Explorer with the BKP A-Pig set in it but I haven't A/B'ed it with my mate's V.

looks like those laces have a somewhat low peak frequency but still some edge to them
the ceramic version of the warpig should get you in the ballpark
