Title: Pickups for an Ibanez 7-String
Post by: Imabagel on October 14, 2013, 04:02:28 AM
I'm hoping for a really fat clean sound from the neck, and good attack that isn't too aggressive from the bridge. I was thinking about an alnico warpig in the neck and an aftermath in the bridge. Would this be a good combination, or would they clash too much?

Interesting choice as those aren't pickups I'd naturally associate with your description at all. What styles, sounds etc. are you aiming for?

Two Humbuckers that would work really well with your guitar and for the tones you described would be the Nailbomb bridge with the Cold Sweat neck.  Both pickups compliment each other well in the middle position and as I said before, will work well with your guitar.

Im looking for generally fat cleans, with a distorted sound similar to Intervals, then adding sort of an indie fuzz over that if that helps with the description of my sound. I am coming from emg's so clarity and a more even sound is wanted.

I would probably go for the Blackhawk set. Maybe the Ceramic Nailbomb set.

Nailbomb bridge and either an Emerald or Cold Sweat neck.
