Any one tried pairing a P90 in the neck of a Les Paul with a Nailbomb or similar in the neck? I hardly ever use the neck pup on the les paul and thought a better fit would be a P90 for clean tones and more strat-like neck tone.
If so what pairings would suit? I like my pickups hot! haha
Cheers

I've seen the Stockholm neck suggested to go with the Nailbomb bridge, but I don't think I've read a report by someone who's actually done it
Seems like the one best matched for the Nailbomb though. The Nailbomb neck is 9.8KΩ whereas the Stockholm neck is 12.5KΩ, but the bridge outputs are close, 15.7KΩ (NB) vs 15.3KΩ (SH)
Compare this to the Mississippi Queen neck, 6.9KΩ - although some people like to pair it with high output bridge pickups I think that the Stockholm seems likely to have a closer character to a Nailbomb

I thought that would be the best fit. Stockholm and NailB. The only other option I was considering was coil tap/split the neck humbucker. Would leave me with more options I guess.
Thanks for the reply

I've got a Mississippi Queen neck with an ABomb bridge and it works really well. Classic Matt Bellamy combination. The MQ is in no way overpowered and sits nicely with the NB.

A P90 fits well with a strong humbucker in the bridge. I once paired a Lollar P90 with a Crawler and with a Lawrence L-500 XL and did not have any problem with the humbucker overpowering the P90.

I've had a Mississippi Queen in the neck of a Les Paul copy with a few different bridge pups. One was a Bulldog Pickups Black Label (I think that's what it's called), which I've been told is like a slightly hotter Miracle Man. I liked the combo a lot and only changed the bridge pup because I had a few guitars with really hot humbuckers in the bridge and wanted to try something a bit more classic in there. I tried an Abraxas bridge with the MQ but have now gone for a Black Dog which I feel has a bit more 'spank' in my guitar..probably 'cause of the extra mids.
I'm not sure HOW important the clean sounds are to you, but MQ has beautiful cleans, possibly more so than the Stockholm(?). I have not found it to lack power however and it does hot and creamy leads extremely well also. One of my fave pups!! ( can you tell!?)
Whatever choice you make I think you'll like a neck p90, from what you've said.

+1 for NB/MQ-combo.
