Title: Quick review: Bareknuckle jaggernout 6 bridge
Post by: chopeth on October 23, 2013, 03:12:58 PM
Well, at last, ive got my  jaggernout in my gl  ( swamp ash body, maple neck, ebony fretboard ). This a quick review, in a few days ill do a decent review !

- Clean: the clean sound is really thick, deep, and very very organic. Its one of the most beautiful bridge pickup that i ever had. It has that warm and beautiful sound but with the little sparkle that has the ceramic. Its the first time that i really enjoy playing with the bridge pickup in clean style. The split coil increases the " kind of bell sound" and softs the bass. it has better cleans than the alnico warpig or the ceramic nailbomb.

- Distorted sound: i have to admit i still shocked. Belive or not, i think its  nearly as hot as the warpig, but waaaaaaay tighter. I couldnt believe it.  At least it has more distorsion than the painkiller and the miracle man ( i have compared them playing at 12 o' clock with the same amp settings ) . the sound its huge, really clear, beautiful, thick and at the same time, aggresive. The bass...its incredible...its the more incredible bass ive heard in a pickup ! its extremely thick but tight as hell and really organic. the open chords and arppegios sound clear and fat, and with that organic tone that i love.

- lead sound: the lead sound is very fluid and has a great dinamic. Again , its thick and mellow, really tastefull !

Hope it helps !

There's loads about this pickup that sounds great yet as soon as I hear a clip of it I immediately think 'No'. I think it's the tightness in the bass that is putting me off because I just have no need for anything tighter than my Holydiver but I've heard and read enough to know that this will be a fantastic pickup for a lot of people.

Thanks a lot for a review.

How does jaggernaut compare to Miracle Man? Could you give more in depth comparison between them two please?

well, i have it in different guitars, ill try to do it. The miracle man is sharper and its overall brighter than de juggernout. The juggernout has more thick organic mids and the bass is more pronunced than the mm. Both are really clear but it depends what you are looking for. I think for more classic stuff, the miracle man is better, it sound thick and deep in mahogany and bright and alive in swamp ash maple neck and the juggernout has more " dark feel" , more oriented to new metal stuff. Thr sound of the juggernout is more complex, has more " everything". Maybe the miracle man is tighter, and the bass was more rounded...the juggernout is more like a wall pf sound...im not sure if it is a good choice for dark guitars...

Very intriguing and interesting especially comparison with Miracle Man as so far it`s my favorite 'only-metal' pickup (haven`t tried it yet, but assuming that from reviews/audio clips/youtube ect so far.)

I was always thinking that MM is capable of creating that 'wall of sound'.
Somewhere on this forum I`ve read that Juggernaut reminds of Metallica sound from the Black Album (guitars there are genuine thick wall of sound, in-your-face brick), would you agree? Does it remind that kind of sound?
How does it copes with fast staccato riffing?

And what tuning do you use with Juggs? Standard EADGBE?

The miracle man , of course, can create that kind of wall sound but you need to choose the correct guitar. It doesnt a pickup that was for every guitar. Its not scooped but is fairly bright so you need more mids in your wood to get the right sound.

I have the guitar in standar EADGBE and im agree that the jugg has that kind of black album taste, but with more lows. I really surprise of the fast staccato riffing, because sounds really thick and retains all the clarity you can need if you play abrassive fast metal  :D

great, sounds nearly like a perfect modern pickup.  :P

Just wondering how does the neck version perform because the sound from the BKP clips were absolutely immense. Even more into my taste than the bridge ones.
Give us a shout when you`ll record any samples yourself. looking forward to hear that beast in action!
Cheers
