Title: Nailbomb for MusicMan Axis?
Post by: Pierre on November 04, 2013, 07:52:41 PM
Hi guys,

I've a GREAT MusicMan Axis (basswood body, maple cap, maple + rosewood neck) into which I'd like to add a little oomph.
I've always wanted to try a Nailbomb but never had the 'right' axe for it.

I'm simply looking to 'biggen' the sound: a little output, a little more width to the sound, keeping the stock tight bass which makes it work so well for heavy riffs.

Good match? :)

I don't know the Nailbombs, but man get the Juggernauts. You won't be sorry.

the alnico nailbomb probably is a natural match

Yep, I wouldn't consider ceramic anymore really... I loved the clips. Each time I hear a BK I'm surprised at the clarity of it: it always feels as if they're of lesser output since I'm not used to the string definition!

Ordered an A-bomb. The Axis is just bright enough, so I'm hoping it'll bring some extra thickness to it. Worse, it'll go into my Albert Lee HH though it may make it overly dark then...

I think it will be a great combo!

Keep us posted, please. :D

Crushing. Exactly what I wanted. The stock MusicMan DiMarzio are truly great, but a little on the bright side. With the ABomb I keep the clarity and richness of the tone, but there's a little more balls to the sound. I'll have a better go tonight.

Good news  :D I'm looking forward to a detailed review being posted so that Kiichi can include it in his review thread.
