OK so I got very lucky and managed to get a set of 10th Anniversary pickups and now I have to decide what guitar to put them in. I mostly build from parts, but I am prepared to make an exception for exceptional pickups.
So whose guitar would you grace with these pickups? To make it more fun I think we should specify a guitar for less than £1000 (used or new), but i reserve the right to change other hardware on it - what I want to see is who is making the best body/neck combinations out there to really work with these great pickups. This means you are allowed to mix and match bodies and necks or choose both from the same guitar. If we get enough feedback (and a consensus) then I will build it and post clips....
If it then turns out really well I will let Tim auction it for charity. I am not a professional luthier and my playing will make you regret my posting clips, but someone should post something for these pickups

I would say something in the Les Paul ballpark. It just seems like the obvious choice from my point of view.

I agree! A good used Japanese Tokai, Orville, Greco, Burny. Maybe an Edwards LP, or even an old Hamer.

I would've gone for a 335 or similar, but I guess they were probably designed with an LP type in mind.

Interesting question, I have a similar dilemma in that I have a set waiting for me for when I return to the UK at the end if the year and am still debating which guitar to put them in. Originally they were meant to go into my "Chibson" LP Custom, but that sounds so good with the NB/RY combo in it at the moment that I am loath to change that. So at the moment I am leaning towards putting them in my Seth Baccus single cut which has a NB/MQ in it. Either way agree with those before me who said that they are bound to excel in LP style guitars.

You could also consider the fairly recent Gibson JLP's , genuine American made Gibsons without the bling for under £600.

That didn't provoke much of a response!
For reference I currently have the in tele custom where they are awesome. I think I am going to have to stick to maple/ash/alder for the body as the pickups don't give much sparkle - but boy do they growl.
So far they have been in a walnut Les Paul where they sound great, but I have reverted to Crawlers for that one (probably only because I am so used to the Crawlers in it). Ibanez 540R (good but have reverted to P90s which make it sound like absolutely nothing on earth). I have got a Les Paul Studio and a couple of Les Paul copies coming, but I have a suspicion that they will stay in the tele - it just works so well with the 10th Anniversary pickups

i saw a set or 2 on ebay recently and i nearly bought them for my 335. but i imagine they'd be great in a les paul too.
