Hi everyone,
I'm currently designing a Mayones Regius (wenge based neck thru + swamp ash + ebony fingerboard) with HSS.
Needed solid singing sound "high gain capable" but not really metal.
As for Humbucker I'm thinking about Black hawk - it's clear, organic yet powerful.
The question is what could be good companion to it. I'm thinking about trilogy suite's.
Quest for tone - Viola in form of guitar))
Is it a good combination anyway? Am I in right direction?
Thanks!

in terms of matching the black hawk, i think the trilogy suites would be great. in terms of the tone your after, i'm not very sure if its the right set up. there are a lot of good choices. but i do think the trilogys are what you want. maybe the black hawk. maybe not. but i'll let the others fill you in

Thank you, littleredguitars2
On your opinion, what will work better than BH for that tone in Ash+Wenge axe?

I dont know exactly what sound youre going for but to me the sinners match up best with the black hawk.

If it doesn't to be metal, I would look at a Crawler too: organic and powerfull. Cleans en splits great. That one really fits the timbers. I have on in an swampash strat with maple neck and ebony board.
If you desire a modern sound, yes Blackhawk (alnico) and even the alnico Juggernaut that's supposed to have a singing highend.

I think the Crawler is a good shout. It's really rich sounding; full of organic warmth and beautifully fat. Often described as a 'Blues Rock' pickup, it's surprisingly versatile. Mine will happily run from Blues to some 80s Metal and it also has the best splits I've ever come across.

IMHO that wood combination would like something not too bright or aggressive.
1.) Humbucker: I have no experience with the Blackhawk but Crawler or Holydiver may work well.
2.) Single Coils: for the "viola in a guitar" sound I would look at Trilogy Suite.
Cheers Stephan
